I find this map/chart of generic names for soft drinks fascinating for some reason. So how do southerners distinguish between Coke the drink and coke the generic name for soft drinks? Is this what you hear at McDonald\’s all the time:

\”I\’d like a coke please.\”
\”What kind?\”
\”Coke.\”

And what happened in North Dakota? There\’s a colony of \”soda\” users right in the middle of \”pop\” country. Who do these people think they are? Call it pop like everyone else in your state, you damn hippies.
