The Aquabats rocked, as usual, at their show on Friday. Me and Irving arrived at the Glass House to find a long line of kids going down the block. They were all teenagers too, I was probably the oldest guy there. Well, except for some parents chaperoning their kids.
The first band, Digital Unicorn, played this music that\’s kind of hard to explain. It was electronic, but \”fucked up\” sounding, like they pressed the wrong buttons over and over again. I liked it though. Next was the Moon Monkeys. They reminded me of the Aquabats cause they were all wearing spacesuits and helmets with monkey ears. They played kick-ass instrumental surf music. Nu-Tra played after the Moon Monkeys. They had 3 identical, skinhead-looking dudes fronting the band and they were kind of boring. Suburban Legends played some straight out ska, and they were pretty good.
Finally the Aquabats took the stage. The sounded great, as usual. Videos were projected behind them on a big screen that sort of corresponded to the songs they were playing. Like, for Martian Girl they showed a little Japanese girl marrying a robot. They played most of my favorite songs, including some old ones from their first album.
