Taming the Wild, Wild Web
Awwww, how sad, the corporations are having a hard time making money off the internet. Boo hoo hoo. Because of the decentralized nature of the net, corporations can\’t exploit it as easily as they exploit everything else in the world. As a result, they\’re demanding changes to the structure of the net.

\”The Internet is an important cultural phenomenon, but that doesn\’t excuse its failure to comply with basic economic laws,\” said Thomas Nolle, a New Jersey telecommunications consultant. \”The problem is that it was devised by a bunch of hippie anarchists who didn\’t have a strong profit motive. But this is a business, not a government-sponsored network.\”

I hope corporations never make a profit off the net. I hope they give up and leave it alone. The internet is for sharing information and empowering the individual with a voice that can be heard. It\’s not for making a profit and restricting and censoring information.
