Some people take role playing games way too seriously: His Death a Fantasy, Says Game Player
David Dunn of Cleveland has become such a powerful warrior in the Internet fantasy game DragonRealms that others would pay thousands of dollars to assume his character, Bloodwrath.
But shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a real-world impostor tried to kill him off and steal his online identity.
Administrators at Simutronics Corp., which created DragonRealms, received an e-mail Sept. 18 from someone claiming to be Dunn\’s wife, Adine.
The writer said Dunn and his father had died in the attack on the World Trade Center and asked that Bloodwrath be turned over to another player in the game.
That\’s really fucked up. The imposter must have some serious mental problems.
