If you\’re ever driving through Ohio, stay the hell away from the town of New Rome. It\’s a tiny village of 60 people with possibly the most corrupt police force in the country. Its main street is only 1000 feet long but in 2001 they made $377,651 in traffic citations. The police will pull you over and write a ticket for minor violations such as a dim bulb over the license plate. They\’ve been known to show up at your work place, arrest you in front of everyone and haul you off to make sure you pay the fine. The situation is bad enough that a resident made a website about the town.
