The top 5 music companies have settled a price fixing lawsuit for $143.1 million. 42 states filed an antitrust suit in August 2000 against the music companies and 3 other retail outlets saying they artificially inflated prices. As part of the settlement the companies will pay $67.4 million cash and $75 million worth of CDs to nonprofit organizations.
