Some exciting math news: The world\’s largest prime number was recently discovered. It contains 4,053,946 digits and is actually a Mersenne prime, which is of the form 2p-1. This particular prime is written as 213,466,917-1. Uh…I don\’t know how this information is useful for us lay people, but at least you can quote it to your friends in homeroom and sound cool.
