Sneaker Collectors Ride a Rising Tide

Tony Ling owns 350 pairs of sneakers, but only wears about five. The rest are wrapped in plastic, stored in their original boxes, and stacked inside his Lincoln Park home.

He peeks at them occasionally. But only for a few moments because he says the sunlight might fade them. He has been offered $800 for one pair but isn\’t tempted to sell.

I didn\’t know people collected sneakers too. I dunno, it seems kind of odd to me. You camp out all night and pay $250 for Air Jordan XIs. Wear the fucking things! But then again, who am I to say what\’s odd. I used to collect comic books and baseball cards.
