Went to San Diego today for the Nine Inch Nails concert with my friend Bobby from L.A. and his girlfriend Heather. Nice little roadtrip before the crush of the final two weeks of school. We got on the freeway and headed south. After a while the concrete made a sharp turn and suddenly the ocean appeared on the right. Soon we were surrounded by open land, the highway shooting between farmland on our right and low hills on our left. The trip was much shorter than I thought it would be, so we got there with plenty of time to spare.
We found the Cox Arena (yeah, it was named after Cox Communications) at San Diego State University (which is a dump, by the way), but it was too early and we were hungry, so we drove around, ate at Burger King, then went back. The show started at 8:00, and at 4:00 there was already a sizable crowd in line. Boring wait, I won\’t say more. NIN was just amazing; they put on an awesome show. The sound was perfect: clear sounds, deep bass, each note could be heard. They used these screens that showed mesmerizing water images for some of the instrumental songs from The Fragile, very arty. I\’ll write up a full review later and post it on my other site. Heather and Bobby got me a very nice Fragility tour program (birthday present), and I got a t-shirt and a neat ticket stub holder.
After the show we stopped by a market for food before heading home. Surprisingly, I wasn\’t really tired. I was wide awake actually, though I\’ll probably sleep til 3:00 pm tomorrow. Driving back was different: it was pitch black on both sides of the car, kinda creepy. I\’m tired now. I\’m going to sleep.
