• DVD Talk reviews Planet Terror and Death Proof, the two films that made up Grindhouse. It sucks that they\’re split up and sold separately, even if they\’re extended 2-disc versions.

  • Boy driver promises he won\’t do it again

After taking the car keys, he unlocked the car, moved his child seat to the driver\’s seat so he could see better and tried to drive off. But, unable to take the car out of reverse, he backed up 75 feet from her house into a transformer, knocking out electricity and phone service to dozens of townhouses in this suburb north of Denver.

Granny should\’ve put the car in drive and told the kid to go for it, see how far he could get.

  • Man sentenced in \”pride\” killing of ostrich

The powerful flightless bird, named Gaylord, kicked Timothy McKevitt, 19, and Jonathon Porter, 21, last October when they trespassed on an ostrich ranch south of San Francisco after a night of drinking

Heh heh, those guys got their asses kicked by an ostrich named Gaylord.

  • I\’ve been playing the new Zelda game, Phantom Hourglass, for the last week and it\’s a lot of fun. I was somewhat worried cause it\’s touch-screen only, but it works great. You just draw a line to swing the sword, and you tap where you want to throw a bomb. I like the cell-shaded graphics; the DS doesn\’t have a lot of graphical power so instead of trying to make the game look realistic, Nintendo went with cartoon graphics and it works great. The game\’s pretty easy to play, making it perfect for the DS.

  • Orang-utan Prefers Blondes

Sibu the orang-utan has miffed his Dutch keepers by refusing to mate with females and showing sexual interest only in tattooed human blondes.

What a coincidence, so does Tommy Lee. Ba-zing!!

  • Neat QTVR of a Large Hadron Collider. That hole in the middle is where you need to shoot a missile into to blow it up.

  • This is so cool: a group of artists secretly built an apartment in an unused storage room in a mall in Rhode Island. From these photos it looks pretty decent.

The artists built a cinderblock wall and nondescript utility door to keep the loft hidden from the outside world.

But inside, the apartment was fully furnished, down to a hutch filled with china and a Sony Playstation 2 – although a burglar broke in and stole the Playstation last spring, Townsend said.

When he was caught he should\’ve said he was hiding from the Nazis.

  • Motoart sells cool furniture made from old airplane parts. Desks made from wings and engine cowlings, tables made of bombs and nosecones. I want that ejection seat office chair.

  • The NY Times has a good article about Blade Runner: The Final Cut. This version answers once and for all whether or not Deckard is a replicant. It\’ll be shown in theaters, then released on DVD in several variations, including the ultimate 5-disc set that has 5 versions of the movie!

  • Thief nailed selling a million stolen screws

Over two years, the 33-year-old assembly plant worker smuggled between 2,000 and 7,000 screws out of work each night, and auctioned them on an Internet site, police said.

This guy needs to hook up with a disgruntled worker at a screwdriver factory and together they can corner the threaded fastener black market.
