• The Digital Bits did a highly detailed review of Blade Runner: The Final Cut, going over the changes and fixes to the movie. For one scene they brought back the original actress who played Zhora, filmed her doing a stunt in front of a greenscreen, then digitally inserted her head over the stuntwoman\’s in the movie. It\’s playing in a limited run right now and the DVDs come out December 18th.

  • A Japanese fashion designer created a line of urban camouflage, clothing that can turn into vending machines and fire hydrants. The idea is that if a woman\’s being chased by muggers or something she can disguise herself. If I had one of these everyday would be Halloween. And I can\’t wait till the Japanese hidden camera shows start using them.

  • Heh heh, some guy in Korea built a house in the shape of a toilet. It\’d be so awesome if the bathrooms had toilets shaped like houses.

  • Marineland was a theme park on the Palos Verdes peninsula in LA that my parents took me to once. In 1987 it was bought by the owners of Seaworld and shut down. According to the Wikipedia entry it opened a year before Disneyland and was considered LA\’s first theme park. Anyway, that\’s my bit of 80s nostalgia for today.

  • In Germany there\’s a city called Ferropolis that is kind of like a museum for massive, Mad Max-esque digging machines. Forget Nevada, Burning Man should be held here (which, judging by the fourth photo, they already do).

  • No Reflection: the most brilliant prank ever. I was expecting bigger reactions but I guess that\’s how Germans are.

  • Pepsi Guy Punches Coke Guy In Face

The long-standing rivalry between Coke and Pepsi took a physical turn Friday when a Pepsi deliveryman allegedly punched his Coke counterpart in the face at a western Pennsylvania Wal-Mart, state police said.

That\’s so cool. It\’s hard to find people who are so loyal to their companies. I always expect a rumble when the UPS guy and the Fed-Ex guy show up at my office at the same time.

  • Wired has a cool article about one man\’s quest to beat the record for driving across the US. His BMW M5, packed with GPS, radar detectors, laser jammers, radio scanners, and nightvision, has to average 90mph to beat the record set in 1983.

  • Forget the bloody mary, just give me the blood

Li Man-yiu, 29, told a court Monday he was \”extremely thirsty\” when he staggered into a hospital on September 13 for treatment for an injured toe…

Surveillance cameras showed Li \”walk up to the laboratory counter, take three tubes containing blood samples, drink the contents of two and then dump the vials in the lift lobby.\”

Good thing he didn\’t stagger into a sperm bank by accident.

  • How to make crystal clear ice. Cool (pun intended).
