Doctors reattach boy\’s foot, hands
Ten-year-old Terry Vo\’s hands and left foot were cut off when a brick wall supporting a basketball backboard gave way as he executed a slam dunk at a friend\’s birthday party in Perth, the Western Australian state capital, on Saturday.
The weight and force of the collapse, and the sharp brick edges and a broken metal rain gutter, cut Vo\’s three limbs just above the wrists and ankle.
Note to self: Never play basketball ever.

Fried Dough Around the World. I had no idea there were so many versions of fried dough. I only know about doughnuts, churros, and you tiao (from China). And I learned this little bit of trivia: \”Doughnuts only took their torus shape to overcome a problem inherent in balls of dough – uncooked centers. Removing the centers ensured that the doughnuts would be cooked throughout.\”

Scenes from Dr. Strangelove reproduced with household items. These are surprisingly cool, I\’m not sure why. The general shapes and placement of stuff in the scenes are a perfect match, it\’s just the details that are wrong.

Walldesign Stockholm makes some amazing graphic designs for walls. I especially like the 2001 themed apartment (under Cases>Private Sarhammar).

BBC Radio broadcast a radio play of William Gibson\’s seminal cyberpunk classic Neuromancer a couple years ago, and you can download it from this site in mp3 format. So now there\’s comic book, audiobook (read by Gibson himself), and radio play versions of Neuromancer. Somebody make the movie already, damnit.

There are some amazing trompe l\’oeil murals here. I especially like the Niagara Mall painting. Reminds me of that Simpsons where the Stonecutters paint a building sky blue.

Some dude did a very impressive installation of a Mac Mini in his VW GTI. He put the Mac Mini in the glovebox, a 7\” lcd with a custom faceplate in the center console, and a touchpad and iPod dock in front of the gearshift. The power switch was relocated to the dashboard. He even put firewire/usb ports, a card reader, and a Griffin PowerMate next to the parking brake. Everything looks very clean and professional. The faceplate seems a little out-of-place (too shiny and metallic) but overall I love it.
