A first review of the Dell DJ, Dell\’s own mp3 player. It\’s rather ugly looking, but it has an incredible 22 hours battery life! Dell actually underrated the battery life, as the specs say 16 hours.

The 100 Scariest Movie Scenes of All Time, including my favorite, the Large Marge scene from Pee-Wee\’s Big Adventure. And the pink elephants scene from Dumbo! I haven\’t seen that in 15 years, but seeing those screenshots brought everything back.

I previously mentioned the cool ammo box case mod, but I think this one is even better. The guy\’s using a clear case, so everything inside is modded. Lots of chrome, pipes, custom power plugs and cables, leds, glowing panels. Even the screws were modified! Very impressive. It\’s a work in progress and I can\’t wait to see what else he has planned.

Interesting designs from 1908 for a hotel on the WTC site. More info here. Looks like a rocket taking off in the second to last photo.

This guy is the toughest man alive: Tough Icelandic \’Iceman\’ Grabs Shark to Save Men.
The skipper of the trawler \”Erik the Red\” was on a beach in Kuummiit, east Greenland, watching his crew processing a catch when he saw the shark swimming toward the fish blood and guts — and his men.
Captain Sigurdur Petursson, known to locals as \”the Iceman,\” ran into the shallow water and grabbed the shark by its tail. He dragged it off to dry land and killed it with his knife.

Today is Take Back Your Time day, a movement against overwork and over-scheduling. Americans work harder and longer than ever and it threatens the quality of our lives. Some depressing facts:
- We\’re putting in longer hours on the job now than we did in the 1950s, despite promises of a coming age of leisure before the year 2000.
- In fact, we\’re working more than medieval peasants did, and more than the citizens of any other industrial country.
- Mandatory overtime is at near record levels, in spite of a recession.
- On average, we work nearly nine full weeks (350 hours) LONGER per year than our peers in Western Europe do.
- Working Americans average a little over two weeks of vacation per year, while Europeans average five to six weeks.

The Complete Far Side is a huge two volume set that collects all Far Side cartoons ever published, along with some Gary Larson created after retirement, chapter introductions, and fan letters. It looks like he might even explain some of the jokes that no one got. Badass.

This site sells the yellow jumpsuit worn by The Bride in Kill Bill (in homage to Bruce Lee\’s jumpsuit in Game of Death). It would make the perfect Halloween costume. Hell, forget Halloween, I\’d wear it to work every day.

This review of the Rio Karma sounds pretty favorable. I\’m looking for something to replace my iPod. The battery died after only a year, so on a full charge I can only play about 8 songs before I get a low battery warning. I\’ve already ordered a replacement battery, but it\’s $59. Hopefully the battery lasts longer than a year this time. Plus, it looks like Apple isn\’t interested in supporting the older iPods anymore. So now I\’m looking at the Rio Karma, the iRiver iHP-120 and SlimX 550, and the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra.

I saw Kill Bill tonight. It was badass. It\’s the best martial arts/kung fu movie I\’ve seen in a long time. Tarantino\’s been gone for a while but he definitely hasn\’t lost his touch. It\’s not dialogue or plot driven like Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, but as an action movie it\’s perfect. I can hardly wait for Volume 2. The soundtrack also kicks ass.
Hong Kong Flix has a study guide for some of the references in the movie.
