• MP3 Newswire reviews the Archos AV320. It looks like it\’s a big improvement over the previous version. It has a huge 3.8\” screen and it can record video from TV. Several add-on modules include a memory card reader, a digital camera, and a video recorder. It\’s pricy at $600 but it includes the video recorder.

I wish someone would hurry up and make a card reader for the iPod. It would make a perfect image tank. Instead I\’m bringing along 2 256mb CF cards and a 340mb microdrive tomorrow, and a laptop to download my photos.

  • Heh heh, this apron is so wrong. Reminds me of the George Carlin joke that goes something like \”Do you know why when a rancher fucks a sheep, he does so at the edge of a cliff? So the sheep will push back.\”

  • Interesting article about the Brooklyn Bridge swaying under the thousands of people crossing it during the blackout. Suspension bridges are designed to sway, but people were actually feeling seasick and weaving as they walked. There\’s also this interesting bit of trivia:

Contrary to logic, pedestrian traffic is actually heavier than vehicular traffic. Pack people into the same square footage of a car or SUV, and the humans weigh more than the vehicle.

When people cross a bridge they vibrate it in a chaotic manner that engineers can\’t design for.

  • This Saturday I\’m leaving for China for 2 weeks. It\’s gonna be so cool. We\’re going to Beijing, Shanghai, and some other places in between. Expect a ton of photos on my return.

  • The Andgor toy company made some custom Fight Club action figures. The toys aren\’t in production, unfortunately.

  • US troops are using AK-47s confiscated from Iraqis. Tank crews aren\’t issued enough rifles for each person, so troops started using AK-47s which are plentiful in Iraq. Apparently the rifles jam less frequently than M16s, plus AK ammo is more readily available. I\’ve always wondered about that. Can soldiers use any gun they find on the battlefield?

  • Last week the NYPD arrested a man in possession of the first stolen Segway. The guy, Yili Wang, bought it for $75 from another man who was pushing the Segway cause the keys were missing. The police set up a sting when Wang contacted a Segway expert online to help get it working again.

Wang, a finance major, claimed that he did not know what the Segway was when he bought it, but purchased the item \”because I thought it was cool.\”

Ok, who the hell is this guy that he doesn\’t know what a Segway is? It\’s been all over tv, internet, newspapers and magazines for the past year. And he\’s from New York! It\’s not like he lives out in the sticks. I\’ll bet even Stuck-In-The-80s-Guy knows what a Segway is by now.

  • The NY Times has article about strip mall cuisine in LA. I\’ve been to the Zankou Chicken in Pasadena lots of times and it rocks. I\’ve also eaten at Palms Thai, it was ok but my whole family got sick afterwards, so….

  • ZDNet has a video preview of the Rio Karma and Nitrus. The Karma looks a little thick, but still pocketable.
