• The L.A. Times writes about the animated credit sequence at the beginning of Catch Me If You Can. If you haven\’t seen it yet, the credits have a 60s retro look backed by some jazzy music as they tell the movie\’s story. Very stylish. I like it. If I\’m gonna be looking at credits they might as well look good.

  • StorCard is a new storage technology the size and thickness of a credit card. It\’s not solid-state, however, as it actually has moving parts inside. It can hold between 100 mb and 5 gb and should cost less that $15. Hmmm….I\’ll believe it when I see it.

  • RCA had some cool mp3 players at the recent CES. The Lyra RD2780 can play video and has a 3.5 inch LCD screen, along with a compactflash slot to transfer files. Digital photographers could use it to store pictures instead of carrying around a dozen cards. The Lyra RD2760 is a tiny player but has a 1.5 gig hard drive.

  • Oh man, this is neat. The Hivelogic email encoder disguises your email address using numerical equivalents so spammers can\’t harvest it.

  • Luggage Bomb Hoax Lands Couple in Jail

A Maine couple\’s attempt to make a political statement by rigging up a fake bomb in their checked luggage led to their arrest, officials said Thursday.

Paul Kenneth Donahue, 50, and Teresa Marie Wood, 46, had been scheduled to fly from San Jose, California, to Atlanta, Georgia, on Delta Flight 576 Tuesday. When their bags were put through a bomb detection machine, federal screeners found what turned out to be a snow boot with batteries, wires and an electrical power strip arranged in a suspicious way.

These people are 50 and 46! They should know better by now. I could understand if some 19-year-old political science student did this, but come on!

  • Nintendo introduced the new Gameboy Advance SP. It\’s smaller than the current Gameboy Advance and has a folding clamshell design. Plus it\’s compatible with all Gameboy games. Looks really spiffy.

  • Cool piece about engine hacking, modifying the computers in your car that control fuel, air and ignition to squeeze out more horsepower. Whereas the old hot rodders tinkered with their cars mechanically, now you can hook up a laptop and tweak the ECU. You can even use a Palm Pilot to contro nitrous.

  • According to this article kids don\’t understand sarcasm until they\’re older than 10. They interpret a sarcastic remark as serious. Personally, I love using sarcasm on my 7-year-old cousin cause I know he doesn\’t understand it. You know, like \”that\’s a nice painting you made.\”
