• Kite Aerial Photography is a DIY way to take your own aerial photos. You attach a camera to a kite and use a radio to control the camera. The results are great pictures taken from unique viewpoints.

  • The Human Swiss Army Knife. This dude carries around 1300 items with him:

\”It all began very gradually about 10 years ago. First of all it was a screwdriver, then a pair of scissors, then some snack-bars and a torch … just in case,\” says Eric, who refuses to give his family name.

But quickly the backpack which he used became too heavy, so he decided to \”integrate my things about my person\”.

The result is a sartorial tool-kit comprising a panoply of pockets, folds and attachments that puts any one of 1,300 items within immediate hand\’s reach.

Elsewhere he carries a shaving kit, comprehensive first aid gear, a mini-saw, blow-up mattress, spare batteries, a change of clothes, a water-pouch, a water-filtering unit, soldering iron, tape-measure, digital camera …

Let\’s just be glad he\’s not a nudist.

  • A white guy tried to use a bathhouse in Japan but was turned away. The bathhouse had a sign that read \”Japanese only.\” The guy became a Japanese citizen a year later and tried again, but was turned away again. He sued the bathhouse and won about $25,000.

Wow, that seems a little extreme to use a bathhouse. Must be one hell of a bathhouse.

  • Bohemian Rhapsody is the top song of the last 50 years? No way. It\’s a good song, but come on. How could it beat out Funkytown?

  • The LA Times has a great article about Adrian Tomine, one of my favorite comic artists.

  • This is the perfect gift for the science geeks out there. The Element Collection contains all 92 naturally-occuring elements in a handsome wooden box. Unfortunately you don\’t get the artificially-produced ones, so no plutonium (nuts). There\’s a Basic set with only 81 elements, or you can be hardcore and get the Full set which includes radioactive elements.

  • Michael McNevin draws some incredible Etch-A-Sketch pieces. I feel like a loser cause the only things I could ever draw were boxes and stairs.

  • Popular Science test drives the iDrive system in the new BMW 7 series. It turns out to be a usability nightmare, as it has too many menus and submenus. It controls 700 different functions, so it\’s obviously going to be complex.

  • Even better than the Soldam computer I posted yesterday is this all aluminum version. It looks even more like a toaster. I love it!

  • Damn, this really sucks. Job hunters now must watch out for identity theft. This guy applied for a job and got a response asking for a lot of personal information, including social security number, bank account numbers, and mother\’s maiden name. I hate these fucks who take advantage of unemployed people. First pyramid scams, and now identity theft. You gotta be careful out there.
