• The Decline of Western Magazine Design, a great piece about the beautiful magazine covers of yesterday versus today\’s homogeneous celebrity-plus–screaming-headlines covers.

I can\’t believe I\’ve never been to PopCult before, as they have a lot of cool articles, especially the Bottom 5 lists ( Bottom 5 SUVs, Bottom 5 Official Celebrity websites )

  • Richie Sowa, a British carpenter, built a floating island in the Caribbean using 250,000 plastic bottles. It has 3 beaches, a 2-bedroom house, a warm-water shower and solar panels. It\’s so cool, it looks just like real island. This is the kind of thing I wanna do when I retire.

  • Some guy in North Carolina filed a patent for an \”invisibility cloak.\” It uses photodetectors to record the color and intensity of light behind the object, then light emitters on the front generate the same light beams so it seems as if you\’re looking through the object. Sounds like it\’ll work, but it\’s probably a bitch to implement.

  • I find this very amusing: Many hackers can\’t work for the FBI cause they\’re too fat.

  • So I had a pretty interesting weekend. Went down to Ensenada with a bunch of relatives. We joined a tour group which took us to San Diego, Tijuana, then down the coast to Ensenada. It was ok, kind of dirty and run-down though.

Then after we got back to LA, we went out for dinner on Monday night and got rear-ended by an uninsured driver on the way home. Bleh. We had to call the police and everything.

And on top of that my computer\’s broken, so now I have to surf the web at work. Bleh. Thank god it\’s a 4 day week and it\’s already Wednesday.
