• DVD File has shots of the box art for the Lord of the Rings DVD release here and here. Very slick, especially the bookends.

  • Now the record industry wants to start charging royalties for used CD sales. They\’re proposing a 6% royalty rate paid by CD retailers, and presumably the costs would be passed on to customers. Besides the albums on sale, I haven\’t bought a brand new CD in months. $18 is way too much. Fucking record industry.

  • Men Dressed as Ninjas Shut Local Freeway

\”You have two people out in broad daylight in full ninja suits, who you believe have a firearm in the vehicle, and the passenger appeared to be waving out the car at us when we were behind them,\” Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Gonyeau said.

Ha ha, that\’s awesome. I\’m cracking up just imagining 2 ninjas driving around in a Ford Escort. And in a follow-up story: Freeway Ninjas Will Not Face Charges

  • The database password for that museum in Norway was cracked in just 5 hours. Unsurprisingly it was the database owner\’s last name spelled backwards, \”ladepujd.\”

  • The Logitech Pocket Digital seems like the digital equivalent of those disposable cameras you buy at 7-Eleven. It can hold 50 images at 640×480 resolution but it doesn\’t have an LCD, zoom, or flash. But on the plus side it\’s about the size of a credit card and only costs $130. The sample images look decent. I wouldn\’t use it to take any important pictures like weddings and child births though.

  • The Bourne Identity opens this week and it looks pretty cool. I love Doug Liman\’s other movies Swingers and Go but this seems like such a big change. It\’ll be interesting to see what he does with a big-budget action movie.

  • I picked up a copy of UHF yesterday. I haven\’t seen it since I was in elementary school, but it\’s still as funny as I remember it. Heh heh, I used to quote lines endlessly. Haven\’t watched any of the supplements yet.

  • Rob Zombie\’s movie House of 1000 Corpses finally has a distributor, MGM studios. He had to tone it down a bit, but we\’ll finally be able to see it around Halloween. Woohoo! I can already hear Christian groups whining about it.

  • This guy built a very cool model of Manhatten to fill his kitchen window. How cool is that? It has the proper perspective and everything. It doesn\’t look all that great during the daytime, however.
