• Oh man, someone gimme the money for this. Skinny Puppy singer Ogre\’s guitar from the Too Dark Park/Last Rights era is being auctioned on eBay. The backside was painted by Ogre himself, plus it\’ll be autographed to the winning bidder.

  • According to this article al-Qaeda uses a website to communicate with followers.

The site contained audio and video clips of Osama bin Laden, pictures of al-Qaeda suspects under detention in Pakistan, and possibly encrypted, or scrambled, messages to al-Qaeda members, U.S. officials say.

They say it also contained a recent message claiming to be from al-Qaeda spokesman Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, in which he warned of more attacks against the United States; and a series of articles claiming that suicide bombings aimed at Americans are justifiable under Islamic law.

The site appeared on web servers this month, then was taken off at the request of U.S. Officials. The FBI and CIA are now trying to find it again. So where are the hackers and script kiddies when you need them?

  • DVDFile reviews the Simpsons season 2 DVD set. It includes a full season of 22 episodes plus commentaries, music videos for Deep Deep Trouble and Do the Bartman, awards show appearances, and, er, Butterfinger commercials.

  • Wal-Mart\’s forcing workers to work overtime without pay. Not only that, but managers actually deleted hours from timecards to avoid paying overtime. The sad thing is, some workers willingly worked off the clock cause they wanted to be a part of the Wal-Mart family. Which is stupid cause you know if Wal-Mart starts losing money they wouldn\’t hesitate to fire workers. Fucking corporations.

  • Anti-violence event ends in brawl

As the supporters sat down to a farewell dinner after three civilised days of lectures and discussions, rival groups started a heated debate about the relative merits of their teams\’ players.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots as a fight broke out, although nobody was injured.

    I love irony.

  • CNN has an interesting article about automakers trying to corner the repair market. To diagnose the problem the mechanic connects a hand-held computer to the car, and the computer returns a code of numbers and letters. But the problem is the carmakers refuse to release the information needed to interpret the codes. So car owners are forced to get their car repaired at the dealership, which everyone knows is a ripoff.

Fortunately the aftermarket offers alternatives. For example, the Vag-Com software lets users diagnose Volkswagens and Audis. All that\’s needed is a computer and an interface cable.

  • Villain Supply has everything you need for your villainous needs. Secret lairs, evil traps, weapons of mass destruction, they have it all. If I had the money I\’d get some Anti-matter, a steal at only $450,000,000 per liter.

  • The Gigabeat is a new Windows iPod competitor made by Toshiba, who coincidentally also make the iPod\’s hard drive. The Gigabeat has a removable 5 gig hard drive and a USB 2.0 interface. It\’s slightly larger than the iPod and has a smaller screen, and costs about the same.

Doesn\’t look as elegant as the iPod though, but hopefully Apple will lower the iPod\’s price and include Windows support. And then we\’ll have a nice mp3 player war.

  • I\’m really digging the AOpen vacuum tube motherboard. At first I thought the vacuum tubes are actually used for computing, but no, they\’re for the audio. Vacuum tubes are popular among audiophiles cause of the tonal quality and sound they produce. The motherboard supports Pentium 4s and only has 3 PCI slots.

  • The Yamaha CRW-F1 CD writer can burn images and text onto discs, so you don\’t need to use labels. I\’m a little confused though, it says \”Customers can put graphics, such as signatures, logos, memorandums, and photo images onto CD-R\’s unused area after data writing.\” So I guess this feature\’s useless if the CD is full? Well, good try anyway Yamaha.
