So far digital cameras still can\’t match the quality of traditional 35mm film. But Foveon\’s new sensor is expected to finally surpass film. Its resolution is only 3.53 megapixels, but it captures color using a new technique that makes it comparable to 7 megapixels. No sample pictures in the article, unfortunately.

Geez, reading stories like The world of the laid-off techie depresses me. Cause if a guy with \”a bachelor\’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M; University and a master\’s of business administration from Pfeiffer University\” can\’t find a good job, there\’s no way in hell I can.

Australian Road-Trains are trucks with massive amounts of torque that tow a whole bunch of trailers across the Outback. Since there are no railroads this is the most convenient way to haul a lot of stuff from A to B. Also, if a truck breaks down in the Outback there\’s nowhere to get it fixed, so you\’ll have trucks towing other trucks along with their trailers. Check out some of the images here and here. Very cool stuff in a Mad Max sort of way.

I almost forgot the Olympics start tonight. I hope they show a wider variety of events this time, instead of just the ones where US athletes are winning. And luckily there\’s not much time difference so we won\’t be watching stuff that happened 12 hours ago. Come on NBC, let\’s see some curling action!

The Enron case gets stranger and stranger.
Some of the partnerships they created had Star Wars-related names, such as JEDI LP(Joint Energy Development Investment), Chewco Investments LP, Kenobe Inc., and Obi-1 Holdings. Nice to see they had a sense of humor while they were stealing billions of dollars.
Then, they got their own employees to pretend to be electricity and natural gas sales representatives to impress visiting Wall Street analysts. They put everybody in an empty room, brought in computers and phones, told everybody to act busy, and when the analysts came in it looked like a busy trading floor. Reminds me of something from The Sting.

Oh man, Dictionaraoke is so damn cool. It combines cheesy karaoke backing tracks with vocals read by online dictionaries. They have the Beastie Boys, the Clash, Kiss, Pink Floyd, and even the Sex Pistols. I gotta burn some of these to CD to play in my car.

The Fastap keypad looks pretty neat. It uses the spaces between the numbers for the letters. So if you want to type a \”L\”, instead of pressing the \”5\” button 3 times, you just press the space between the 4,5,7, and 8 buttons. You\’ll see what I mean if you visit the site.

I had to go to work today, blah blah blah. On my lunch break I stopped by UCI and finally picked up my diploma. Woohoo! I really graduated! I\’m surprised they didn\’t charge me a \”handling fee\” or something like that. They\’re always charging me for stuff. Well, anyway, I need a nice frame now so it\’ll look good hanging on my cubicle wall next to the TPS reports.

DVDFile reviews the Ghost World DVD, one of my favorite movies of last year. Heh, I rented it on Friday and the music video for Mohammed Rafi\’s Jaan Pehechaan Ho rocks!
