I was going through the channels last night when I recognized the actors from Clerks. Turns out it was a short film Kevin Smith did for the Jay Leno show. It was pretty damn funny, with Randal asking Dante what he\’d do for a flying car. Anyway, News Askew has local copies you can download if you missed it.

Wired reports that a kid at CompUSA used his iPod to download Office for OS X. He just plugged the iPod into a Mac\’s firewire port and copied the program straight over in less than a minute. Part of the problem is that Office for OS X includes \”a self-repair mechanism that replaces critical files in the system folder,\” making it much easier to pirate than Windows programs which use system files in other locations.
I think Wired just opened up a can of worms.

Osama Bin Laden was ripped off trying to buy nuclear weapons on the black market. U.S. Forces found containers made with metal thin enough to contaminate the courier transporting them. They were also probably dipped in medical waste to fool geiger counters. God bless those con men. Still, I can\’t help but think this is a trick by Bin Laden to make us think that he doesn\’t have nuclear weapons. Hmmm….

Investment bankers went crazy with the drinks and racked up a $62,700 bill, which they tried to pass off as business expenses. Five of them were fired. Their drinks included
…a third Château Pétrus, this one a 1946 vintage for £9,400. Then there was a 1984 Montrachet for £1,400, two bottles of Kronenbourg beer at £3.50 each, six glasses of Champagne for £9.50 each, one juice at £3, 10 bottles of water totaling £35, a pack of cigarettes for £5 and, to wash it all down, a bottle of 100-year-old Château d\’Yquem dessert wine for £9,200.
I bet afterwards they had to pee really bad.

This is priceless. Some guys taped 2 $1 dollar bills up in a tree outside their office to see what would happen. The results were hilarious. I love it when people find sources of amusement at their jobs.

Cheney Document Left in Store. Secret Service agents were shopping and lost the document, blah blah blah, but this is the best part:
The agents were at a skateboard and apparel shop near the Rice-Eccles Stadium…
\”Dude! We lost the security document.\”
\”Dude! No way!\” -
Alert customer shoots terrorist in Efrat supermarket
…a woman shopping in the packed supermarket apparently saw the terrorist trying to set off a second explosion and shot him twice in the head from close range.
That\’s pretty badass.

The NYTimes has a great article about an Iranian pirate TV station, based in the Valley, that\’s using satellites to broadcast into Iran. Originally it aired \”Farsi movies, music, cooking shows and perhaps a bit of tastefully exposed Persian female flesh.\”, but when Iran started jamming the signal, the station encouraged its talent to cause trouble.
