Some juicy bits about the inevitable Lord of the Rings DVD (I can\’t believe I used \’juicy\’). It\’ll have 30 to 40 minutes of extra footage. Let\’s hope it\’s not half an hour of singing (you know what I\’m talking about if you\’ve read the book).

Things I Like to Hear About #1: Backstreet Boy Nick Carter Busted!
\”He said, \’You just want to arrest a Backstreet Boy. I\’ve never been arrested. I don\’t know what to do!\’ He was crying hard. Tears were streaming down his face. People were laughing at him. The cops were chuckling.\”
Things I Like to Hear About #2: *NSYNC Might Appear In \’Star Wars: Episode II\’. George Lucas is just asking for it.

Architecture: Boring Buildings is a great article about the current state of American architecture. Reasons for our bland buildings include an indifferent and architecturally ignorant public, and the flawed process for choosing architects to design buildings. I\’m surrounded by ugly buildings everywhere I go and I always wonder why I never see those amazing designs pictured in expensive architecture magazines.

I wish I were 12 years old again. Then I could wear the Catapult Watch to school and cause all kinds of mayhem. It actually looks pretty nice, plus it comes with a supply of copper BBs. These guys also sell full-size catapult kits.

Universal Music was making a big deal about their new CD copy protection that prevents MP3 ripping. Well, you can get around it by just playing the CD in a DVD player. Apparently DVD drives don\’t recognize the copy protected files, they just see it as a regular, rippable audio CD. Take that, Universal!

When the Three Gorges Dam in China is completed, everything along the banks will be flooded, including the Zhang Fei Temple. So the temple will have to be disassembled, moved somewhere else, and reassembled. A Canadian company is currently scanning the buildings with lasers and creating accurate 3D models so they can be rebuilt exactly as they are now. Pretty cool stuff.

Oops, forgot to mention I was going to visit relatives in Sacramento for the weekend. Well, I did, and I got back today and it was fun. Hung out, had good food, and watched lots of satellite TV. And that\’s all I have to say about that.
