• I received two issues of a zine called Bigger Isn\’t Better, by Jennifer Kao, in the mail the other day. It\’s a cool personal zine with a big mix of stuff; essays, interviews, rants, comics, and poetry. In the first issue she writes about life in New York, and the second issue is when she moved to San Francisco and compares the two cities. The writing\’s good and she has some interesting stories to tell. I\’ve been out of the zine scene for a long time and Bigger Isn\’t Better renewed my interest in them. I think I might start writing a new zine. Anyway, if you\’re interested in a copy of Bigger Isn\’t Better, it\’s $3 an issue and, uh, I probably shouldn\’t put her address here so email Jennifer for more details.

  • NewsRadio was one of my favorite shows and a massive, intelligent essay was written about it. It thoroughly analyzes NewsRadio, going into what made it funny, the strengths of the characters, its visual gags, the relationships betwen the chracters, and much more. It\’s a great read if you\’re a fan of the show.

  • I\’ve been using Windows XP at work for two weeks now and it seems pretty good. It feels a little faster than Win 98, it hasn\’t crashed yet, and I didn\’t have any hardware compatibility problems. More importantly, it comes with nice wallpapers and a pinball game!

  • So, I\’m writing a 1-page essay for my Spanish class and this page came in handy for the special characters, like accents and upside down question marks. See kids, RRL is educational too!

  • Murder of Six Began as Joke

The prime suspect in the murder of six Portuguese men buried alive two weeks ago at a beach bar in Brazil\’s northeast said on Sunday that the crime began as a joke between hard-up drinking companions.

Heh heh, that\’s a pretty good joke.

  • Two fucked up gaming stories for you:
Man dies playing all-night computer game
Youth jailed for stabbing over computer game
Some people take computer games entirely too seriously.

  • I visited my parents for the weekend and we went to Santa Monica on Saturday. I had to drain the lizard, so I found a bathroom in that mall they have there. I noticed there was a long line for the women\’s room as usual. As I was doing my business, I thought I heard woman\’s voices coming from the men\’s room stalls, but I thought I was imagining things. Next thing I know the toilets flush and two women come out of the stalls, giggling to themselves. What the hell? They invaded our inner sanctum. And, worst of all, they didn\’t wash their hands!

  • Kevin Smith will send you a signed and personalized Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back miniposter if you see the movie twice and send in your ticket stubs from Friday and Saturday.

Speaking of which, I saw JSBSB Friday night and I loved it. If you\’re a Kevin Smith fan, it\’s the ultimate Kevin Smith movie. It was funny as hell and I loved it. Most of the characters from the previous Jersey movies have cameos.

  • Centralia, Pennsylvania, is a small town with a population of 35 people. In 1962 a coal mine caught on fire and it\’s been burning underground ever since. Attempts to put out the fire all failed, and in the worst case the fire will burn for another 100 years. I thought this was a really interesting story. The fire\’s been going on for 40 years, and there\’s nothing that can be done about it. Most of the 1100 former residents have relocated, and the town itself is pretty much destroyed.

  • Nuts. So I woke up at 8:00 this morning to go to work. Got dressed, made coffee and all that. I get to work and I sit around for half an hour cause both my computers are being used by my coworker. Then my boss tells me to go home cause there\’s nothing I can do. I think our servers have the Code Red virus, so we can\’t get any work done.

Well, anyway, at least I get a day off. I was getting tired of work anyway.
