• For the next 6 weeks I have 2 and a half hours of linear algebra every morning. Yup, I love summer school.

  • In the spirit of the Matrix bastardization, somebody did a bastardization of Fight Club. There\’s only 3 pages so far, and it\’s kind of lame. Hopefully it\’ll get better.

  • The Aquabats rocked, as usual, at their show on Friday. Me and Irving arrived at the Glass House to find a long line of kids going down the block. They were all teenagers too, I was probably the oldest guy there. Well, except for some parents chaperoning their kids.

The first band, Digital Unicorn, played this music that\’s kind of hard to explain. It was electronic, but \”fucked up\” sounding, like they pressed the wrong buttons over and over again. I liked it though. Next was the Moon Monkeys. They reminded me of the Aquabats cause they were all wearing spacesuits and helmets with monkey ears. They played kick-ass instrumental surf music. Nu-Tra played after the Moon Monkeys. They had 3 identical, skinhead-looking dudes fronting the band and they were kind of boring. Suburban Legends played some straight out ska, and they were pretty good.

Finally the Aquabats took the stage. The sounded great, as usual. Videos were projected behind them on a big screen that sort of corresponded to the songs they were playing. Like, for Martian Girl they showed a little Japanese girl marrying a robot. They played most of my favorite songs, including some old ones from their first album.

  • The FiringSquad reviewed a modified Nomad Jukebox that can hold 20 or 30 GB worth of mp3s. The modifications were performed by NomadJukebox.net, who add 20 or 30 GB laptop harddrives to the Jukebox. They\’re expensive though, but it might be worth it for those of you with large mp3 collections.

  • So graduation last Saturday went pretty well. It was held in our big basketball arena. My parents and brother and a bunch of relatives showed up. I felt like I was in a trance when I walked across the stage and shook the dean\’s hand. I couldn\’t believe I was actually graduating. Anyway, I\’ll spare you the actual details, as graduations are generally the same everywhere.

The announcer mispronounced my name again, just like at my high school graduation, but I wasn\’t expecting much from those people anyway. I would give the guy a little slack if I had one of those hardcore Chinese names like Xiu Xiaoping, but Evan\’s an American name. They gave us little cards that we phonetically wrote our names on, so I wrote \”Eh-vin.\” I thought it sounded about right, but I guess I was wrong.

  • The Phantom Menace DVD will finally be released as a 2 disc set on October 16th. It sounds like it\’ll be worth the wait too: it has 6 hours of additional material. There\’s even a commentary by George Lucas.

  • John Woo will direct a computer-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Hopefully, Vanilla Ice will be in it again.

  • Nice, they finally have action figures for Monty Python and the Holy Grail. $150!

  • Well, I didn\’t have internet access while I was at home last week, so that\’s why there weren\’t any posts. Anyway, I\’m back at UCI now for summer school. I haven\’t unpacked anything yet, though, cause my roommate\’s furniture is taking up too much space. And I haven\’t seen him since this afternoon, so I can\’t do anything right now. Oh well.
