• Abandonware are old computer games that aren\’t available in stores anymore. Websites have sprung up that have abandonware for download, although it\’s illegal. The website operators argue that since the games aren\’t being sold anymore, the game companies aren\’t losing money anyway. Sounds reasonable to me.

  • Something that I never noticed before: I\’m right-handed but I eat potato chips with my left hand. Just for the hell of it I ate a chip with my right hand and it felt really weird. I almost missed my mouth completely.

  • To celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Running Red Lights, we have a new design! It was difficult coming up with a design related to the title of this blog without resembling a website for traffic school, so I decided on this instead. Now we have big ass pictures to slow down the site even more! Mua-ha ha ha!(evil laugh)

I haven\’t gotten around to changing the archive index page yet. I figure, nobody looks at the old posts anyways. If it looks funny or anything, please let me know.

  • I\’m about to head home for the weekend. Get some good food and pick up a paycheck and housing payments. I\’m gonna try to study for astronomy too (the final\’s on Tuesday).

  • A group of anarchists in West Philadelphia tried to buy a house to turn into a community center, but they were outbid by an investor. They say it\’s caused by gentrification, but the residents of the area say the anarchists themselves, who are mostly white, are causing gentrification. The anarchists\’ plan, though, sounds really cool.

\”This house would have been filled with tool-sharing programs and free stores, where you just drop off donations and pick up what you need. It would have had radical libraries and free computer access open to all with no library cards required. There would be a huge communal kitchen in which to cook free meals for the community every week. Darkrooms, carpentry spaces, silk screening, welding.\”

  • Well, we were bored again so me and Irving decided to just drive around. We drove down PCH to Laguna Beach. It\’s really dark on the PCH at night. There\’s only a few streetlights, so the only illumination was from the headlights of other cars. We looked to the left and the ocean was pitch black. The town itself was deserted, a big difference from the middle of the afternoon where the traffic is terrible. Then, heading back from Laguna Beach you go through a canyon on a narrow 2-lane road. There were no cars at all. It was really surreal, seeing nothing except the yellow center divider rushing out of the darkness. Anyway, I thought it was rather relaxing. Nice little way to loosen up before the crush of finals week.

  • I didn\’t go to my professor\’s house for dinner after all. There was supposed to be a car pool, but it never happened. I could\’ve just driven there myself, but I\’m almost positive everyone else would\’ve ditched me and I\’d be the only one there.

  • Remember that 7 line Perl script that could descramble DVDs? Here\’s a version in C that\’s even smaller. It\’s slightly more readable than the Perl one. It\’s also fast enough for realtime decoding.

  • The interview went ok, I think. I hope I get the job. They pay more than I get paid now, and they\’re located literally 2 minutes from here.

  • Ah, last day of classes. Next week is finals week, and after that I\’m done for winter quarter. Later today I have a job interview at Canon, and tonight I\’m going to my professor\’s house for dinner with my group from my project course. That\’s gonna be awkward.
