Today\’s the last day of this summer school session, and tomorrow I\’m going to San Francisco. I\’m so excited, I haven\’t been there in a few years. Hopefully my parents will refrain from doing the touristy stuff so I can check out some of the cool record stores. There probably won\’t be any more posts here until Sunday night or so.

Copyleft was added to the defendants list in the DeCSS lawsuit cause they sell a t-shirt that has the DeCSS source code on the back. Now that\’s just cool. Someone should make a wallpaper (the real, physical kind, not the wallpaper you use on your computer) with the code on it, or bookcovers that you can distribute in elementary schools.

We finally start to see mp3-cd players for sale. This review of the MP3 Discman says the quality of the player itself is rather cheap, but the sound is excellent. I think I\’m still gonna wait for the next generation though

After reading this guy\’s story of his trips to LA, I realized I haven\’t really seen a lot of this city. I mostly hang around where I live. I try to get out though. A few weeks ago, on Saturday, I picked a direction and started driving. I ended up in Anaheim, around Disneyland, just by taking the regular streets.
      There\’s not that much to see actually. Orange County pretty much looks the same. Everywhere I went I saw the same houses, the same McDonald\’s, the same Starbuck\’s, the same Kmart\’s, the same shitty strip malls. Once in a while I saw something different.

Bruce Sterling wrote an excellent article about Blobjects & Biodesign, those round, plastic, translucent, hand-shaped, bulbous objects you see everywhere nowadays. On a related, I\’m starting to get really tired of all this iMac inspired translucent bullshit. When these things first appeared on store shelves, I thought they were kinda cool, in a \”wow, that\’s new\” way. Now it\’s just pathetic. Office Depot sells translucent pink and blue office chairs now. What the hell is that about. It won\’t be long until Volkswagen introduces the new translucent plastic Beetle. Hey, how about some translucent hand guns? Or maybe translucent toilets?
