• I finally got around to watching Fight Club last night. It was one of my favorite movies of last year, along with The Matrix and Go. Anyway, the Fight Club DVD (2 disc set!) is just loaded with extra material, like 4 different commentaries, special effects stuff, alternate scenes, a music video, and storyboards. The picture quality is excellent, right up there with the Dark City DVD. One of the good things about DVD is that you can go through the movie frame by frame, which helped me catch those little \”surprises\” I missed the first time around in the theater. If you haven\’t seen the movie yet, pay attention near the beginning of the movie when Edward Norton\’s making photocopies. I\’m not going to ruin the surprise.

  • A lot of good points are brought up in this article about High Tech Obsessions, such as: \”…the kid shooting hoops for an extra 2 hours is seen as a hard worker, and the kid who plays computer games for an extra 2 hours is seen as a slacker.\”

  • The Rice-boy Page is all about those silly looking lowered import cars with the big spoilers and racing stickers and all that shit that you see around town. The UCI parking lots are a gold mine for these kinds of cars, I see at least 1 every day. Hee hee.

  • Here\’s an interview with Neal Stephenson where he talks a little bit about his next book, tentatively titled Quicksilver.

  • In other news, the San Diego Union Tribune has a review of the NIN show I went to. Hmmm…I still haven\’t written my own review yet…

  • I got an email earlier today saying that a computer science grad student killed himself Tuesday night in the Social Science Plaza. That\’s the kind of thing you think will never happen at your school, but when it does happen you\’re not quite sure what to think of it. I\’m shocked, I didn\’t think any UCI student would have the initiative to actually kill himself. People here seem so apathetic to everything else. I wonder what was going through that dude\’s head. What would drive him to kill himself?

  • Ah, finally done with classes for this quarter. No more stupid algorithms and artificial intelligence. Just have finals next week and then I\’m done. This quarter\’s been hell. Too much work, and on top of that, I always get lazy and tired cause it\’s the last quarter of the year. I start feeling apathetic towards all my classes. I think I\’ve fallen asleep in every single lecture and discussion, no matter how hard I tried to stay awake. Ah well, at least that\’s over.

I can\’t believe I\’ve been doing this blog for 10 weeks now. I started it as my final project for an art class last quarter. I thought I would\’ve run out of witty things to say weeks ago. Well, then again, maybe I did.

  • Boy Recovers After Snooker Cue Impaling. I think I speak for all guys when I say \”OUCH!!!!\”

  • This is stupid: Battlefied Surgeons Practice On Pigs. First a Danish marksman shoots a pig, then British surgeons practice on it. The more I think about it, the more absurd it is. Sounds like a Monty Python skit.

  • The hall banquet wasn\’t anything special, but it was still nice going out to a fancy dinner with my friends. I took my camera along and got a lot of pictures. My friends were trying to get a picture of this really cute waitress. Heh heh, that\’s so cute. Pathetic, but cute.
